General Dentistry

General Dentistry involves the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of conditions, disorders and diseases affecting the teeth, gums and maxillofacial part of the body. General dentists provide services related to the general maintenance of oral hygiene and dental health.

Ideally, dentistry is preventive. All health organizations recommend regular visits to the dentist (at least once every six months) to ensure proper oral hygiene and functionality. Regular check-ups and maintenance of oral health prevent the development of serious dental problems that may require expensive treatments.

The general dentist

Your general dentist should work with you to develop a personalized oral hygiene plan. This includes examinations, teeth cleaning, diagnostics and everything else necessary for the health of your teeth.

Your dentist may include a variety of restorative procedures in developing a comprehensive treatment plan to help prevent cavities or disease of the teeth, mouth, gums, and tongue. General dentists also use restorative dental procedures to repair the effects of decay, trauma, defect or disease in these areas of the mouth.

Although usually associated with preventive and restorative dentistry, many dentists pursue additional training to provide cosmetic services such as teeth whitening and porcelain veneers to improve smiles and boost self-confidence. In addition to general dentistry, you can get all aesthetic additional services from Dr. Celakoski and his team.
